To comment from your email does require a login to Substack. From your email you are taken to the website to view posts and you do need to log in with your account information. If I go from emails from the authors I subscribe to, I log in so that I can not only read their post, but like or comment on it from the web. I like doing it from there rather than from the APP, but that's just me. You should have a Substack account if you have the app or are a subscriber to the newsletters. Hope that helps. :)
