Poem 2: "Soul’s Search"

Written for a friend who was struggling. We have all been there.

When the day has gotten long
And your spirit become weak,
Voiceless, you’ve lost your song
And, seeing, all appears bleak,
Take a due walk,
Wend one’s way to the creek.

Find a fallen tree, bark bare,
Nature’s pew― a blessed seat.
Ready your troubles to share,
And bow low in your defeat.
No need to talk;
In silence you will speak.

Sit—still—in steady prayer
And ‘neath the juniper…sleep,
For God will find you there;
He hears your harried heart weep.
Upon The Rock,
You’ll find what you seek.

Ordained on pearly wing,
A gift, Divine; voice to sing.
Soul’s search satiated
With perfect peace.
